Understanding Early Puberty in Children

Puberty is a natural phase of growing up, but when it starts too early, it can raise concerns for parents. Precocious puberty is defined as the onset of pubertal changes before the age of 8 in girls and before 9 in boys.

Signs and Symptoms

In girls, the first sign is usually breast development, followed by rapid height growth and the onset of acne. In boys, signs include enlargement of the testicles, growth of facial hair, and deepening of the voice.

When to See a Specialist

If you notice any of these signs before the ages mentioned above, it is important to consult a pediatric endocrinologist. Early diagnosis can help manage the condition and ensure that your child grows and develops at a healthy pace.
